Daniel Mason, DO

Advanced Abdominal Imaging Fellow, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University

Portrait of Daniel Mason, DO
Impression

Abdominal imaging fellow at Washington University's Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology after a diagnostic radiology residency at Tripler Army Medical Center and two categorical years of general surgery at a Level 1 trauma center. Reads the abdomen with a surgeon's sense of what the referring team needs.

A second thread runs through informatics: imaging AI, dictation optimization, and an earlier career testing quantitative pathology software and doing biophysics research.

Service

2008 — 2020

Service has run alongside training since 2008. A two-year mission in Jamaica and the Bahamas with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2008–2010) combined religious service with humanitarian and manual work for local residents. Back home, that continued as hospice companionship and respite care for families with ICare Home Health and Hospice and Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Services (2012–2015), patient support in the Los Alamos Emergency Department (2012), and the ICU information desk and wound clinic at Utah Valley Medical Center (2014–2015). Through medical school, regular shifts with Feed My Starving Children packed dry food for international hunger relief (2016–2020).
